Subaru Sambar Solid Shift Bushing Set Front & Rear KS4/KS3/KV4/KV3/TT1/TT2/TV1/TV2
Subaru Sambar Solid Shift Bushing Set Front & Rear KS4/KS3/KV4/KV3/TT1/TT2/TV1/TV2
After the 25+ years our trucks and vans take to get to us in the US, the rubber bushings are likely already deteriorating. I created a custom option to replace your rear shift linkage bushings for more solid and precise shifts. The stock shift bushings are soft rubber which can create slop in the shifter, these solid shift bushings will help reduce that slop.
I started with the self-lubricating sintered bronze bushings to slide smoothly over the rear shift linkage shaft. Then I created ASA plastic sleeves to press these bushings into which hold two nitrile rubber O-rings for some compliance.
Kit includes:
- Rear upper and lower shift bushing housings.
- 2X Sintered bronze bushings
- 4X Nitrile rubber O-rings
- Driver and passenger side TPU (Flexible Plastic) front shifter bushings.
Important Notes:
- Please ensure you order the correct bushings for your vehicle. Early models used a smaller lower bushing compared to the upper one, while later models use the same size for both top and bottom.
The exact changeover date is unclear, so if your truck or van is a 1993, please check the size of the lower shift bushing on your vehicle before placing your order. - Some 90-93 Sambars have a hiem joint style front right shift linkage which is not compatible with my front right shift bushings. The other 3 bushings in the set will fit to help tighten up the shifting.
- The rear shift bushings should spin freely on the rod while maintaining a very tight fit. If they need to be forced on, the rod should first be cleaned with emery cloth or sandpaper.
- I recommend installing with PTFE grease, Super Lube is my preferred lubrication.
The rear shift bushings will fit the KS4, KS3, KV4, KV3, TT1, TT2, TV1, TV2 Subaru Sambars.

I have the OEM front bushings, these are better. Two piece for easy installation. Watch A-A-Ron’s YouTube and the install will be a snap.
All the Sambars I have heard of are missing the front bushings and the rears are worn out. This is the set to get.
As Jay Leno would say, my stick shifter felt like “churning butter”, now it’s tight and right.
When I took the stick shift boot off, I found there were no bushings whatsoever, these were easily installed in less than 10 minutes and made a world of difference, my little truck is much more pleasurable to drive now. No more guessing what gear I’m in. Well worth the price and even sent me an extra set of front bushings along with rear bushings and a little bag of candy, I thought that was a nice touch. I will likely make future purchases of some of your other items. Cheers.
As promised and delivered and with the help of Aaron's YouTube video for installation, the bushings were a perfect fit for the older and worn out bushings.
Nothing like crisp shifts going through the sequence as I'm booting through traffic!
Thanks again.
The front bushings are easy to replace but both sides are not identical, so be sure to watch his installation video where he points that out. There was so much play in the shifter that I knew mine were in bad shape, turns out they were completely worn away. The new ones went on without a hitch and really tightened up the shifter feel. The rear bushings are easy to do as well, it just takes a little more time.
Installed these in my 96 Subaru Sambar. Fixed all the slop in the shifter. Also the YouTube instructions for this helped a lot as well.
